About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga

 

Our Platforms and Applications Team are looking for an applications engineer to join the team on a backfill secondment through until the end of February 2027.  The successful candidate will be responsible for several of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade business enterprise applications.  There is a specific focus on supporting MS Teams environments, managing federation, chat & channels, and teams meeting room technology.  Additionally, this role will be a key supporter of our SharePoint on-premise farms and have an opportunity to support the BAU aspects of a project to migrate from SharePoint on-premise to SharePoint Online.  Although these are the main technologies you will be working on there is plenty of scope to work with other technologies such as Exchange Online and other M365 productivity apps.

 

These business critical services are fully supported by our Platforms and Applications Team. The Ministry's M365 products consist of a suite of a key business tools which provide a medium that our staff use to ultimately deliver outcomes for New Zealand.

 

In this role you will:

  • work with technologies that make a difference to the business' ability to operate effectively and efficiently
  • work with a group of dedicated, professional engineers who have significant experience delivering quality services with a focus on the customer
  • work within the wider Platforms and Infrastructure Unit under the Chief Technology Officer
  • Work with a variety of applications where delving into the nitty gritty of the technical possibilities and troubleshooting is a daily experience
  • be supported to upskill in technology  

 

Please note:   You must be happy to participate in a roster to be on-call on weekends and at nights

The full salary range for this role is $ 89,601 to midpoint $105,412 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. We expect to appoint depending on your level of experience.

We are keen to hear from you if you are a skilled applications engineer with;

  • Demonstrated experience with M365, or a willingness and aptitude to learn
  • Day to day experience managing and maintaining Microsoft applications
  • A great attitude, flexibility and proactive approach
  • A courteous and confident communication style
  • Excellent customer focus

 

In addition you will be:

  • Someone who enjoys working in team environment where everyone is welcomed and their contributions and ideas are valued
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of technical and business stakeholders
  • Happiest when you have an opportunity to be a technical hands-on engineer working closely with others to make positive business impacts - then this role would suit you
  • Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
