We are inviting applications for the role of Senior Adviser Aorere Community Support. This is a permanent opportunity within the Workplace Support Team.

 

About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga

 

This role plays an important part in supporting MFAT staff, partners and families through their posting journey. Working closely with staff and their whānau, you’ll provide trusted advice on matters relating to overseas postings. You will act as a central point of connection for partner and family‑related support and services. Your responsibilities will involve building strong relationships across the Ministry, coordinating support, and applying a good understanding of posting‑related policies, so that practical and well‑informed advice can be provided.

This is a Band 17 position. The salary range we expect to appoint within is $106,973 –$125,580 total remuneration, inclusive of our KiwiSaver employer contribution. We expect to appoint depending on your level of experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Offshore and cross-cultural experience will be important to understand the context our staff and their whānau encounter.
  • Knowledge and understanding of people policies, processes and systems.
  • Proven ability in building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A customer centric mindset.
  • Well-developed ability to analyse and interpret complex information, solve problems and make effective, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Strong facilitation skills and able to lead sessions with a range of staff and partner groups.
  • Highly organised, with strong planning and time‑management skills.
  • Able to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Participates in and leads improvement projects to streamline processes and improve ways of working.
  • Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
