Bring your exceptional relationship skills and technical HR expertise to this strategic HR Business Partnering role to play a critical role in supporting the Ministry achieve its goals.
About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga
As a key member of an engaged and collaborative team, you will work closely with people leaders, staff, and their partners and whānau, within a dedicated business group portfolio across our global network.
By operating in partnership with people leaders and key stakeholders, you will quickly develop an in depth understanding of your groups priorities, needs, challenges, and risks. You will be proactive at identifying HR business partnerings opportunities and recommend solutions by leveraging your experience, insights and knowledge to help achieve business goals. You will support the development of strategic and operational people projects and initiatives and ensure these are successfully implemented and embedded in your groups by applying a people lens to everything you do.
Work in this role includes but not limited to:
- Managing the relationship with your groups on behalf of the People Division (PEP).
- Providing expert strategic HR advice ensuring you are sought after as a trusted and credible HR Business Partner.
- Coaching senior leaders on the people responsibilities and requirements of their roles to ensure a happy, healthy and high performing organisation.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of HR initiatives and programmes of work, which meet the needs of the Ministry, including our annual processes.
- Supporting the move of our HR policies to the Business Process Portal.

The full salary range for this role is $124,674 and $168,676 total fixed remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. Appointment within the the range will depend on your level of experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an experienced HR Business Partner with the following skills and experience:
- Must have experience as an HR Business Partner, and extensive experience as a Senior People Adviser, partnering closely with people leaders to achieve business goals.
- Must have strong consulting and influencing skills with the ability to build valued relationships with senior leaders, and challenge effectively when required.
- Must have the capability to create, manage, implement, and improve HR solutions so they are right for the organisation.
- Must have proven experience in change, including developing and implementing a vision.
- Must have exceptional planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Must have high level of agility, energy and curiosity.
- Desirable is depth in a specialist area of HR, e.g. remuneration.
- A degree level qualification in HR, psychology or business.
