About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga
The communications Coordinator — Pacific and Development is part of the Ministry’s wider Communications Division, located within the specialist Pacific and Development Group (PDG) Communications Team.
The communications Coordinator has a hands-on role creating engaging content for a range of channels, including social media and web. You will also:
- provide day-to-day communications support to Ministry staff in Wellington and Auckland, and staff at Pacific Posts
- be responsible for managing tools and databases that support the effective delivery of tailored Pacific and Development communications and help grow our audiences.

The full salary range for this role is $72,341 and $92,436 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution.

We’d like to hear from you if you:
- have a great design eye and software skills (and/or the ability to quickly up-skill)
- are comfortable working in digital content management systems
- possess a good understanding of best practice in communications channels
- can identify and set up effective and efficient ways of managing communications resources (for example, managing images)
- can see linkages between different strands of work and how they come together in storytelling
- an understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori, and Māori customs and protocols would also be beneficial.
