Assistant Accountant
- Opportunity to provide operational and accounting support to the Ministry’s treasury function
- Assist and monitor the Ministry’s receivables function
- Contribute to the development of financial policies and processes
- Coach and guide Banking and Finance Officers
About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing support and guidance to the Ministry’s Financial Services team . In addition to this, you are also responsible for but, not limited to;
- Undertake month end processes
- Monitoring the Ministry’s cash requirements
- Monitor and support the Ministry’s debt management
- Assist in Ministry’s payment processes

The full salary range for this role is $78,043 and $105,587 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
We expect to appoint around the midpoint $91,815 – give or take depending on your level of experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an up and coming accountant with the following skills and experience:
- Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and banking requirements
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and required operating practices
- An ability to coach others and work effectively and collegially
- Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
