About the role - Kōrero mō te tūranga

 

The Administration Manager is responsible for contributing to the overall smooth running of the Post through the provision and efficient management of the Post’s resources (human, financial, property, security, IT and other assets); the provision of consular, administration and management services. The role is the line manager to two staff and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Financial management
  • Asset and facilitaties management
  • Post administration
  • People management and human resources
  • Consular assistance
  • Providing support to co-located NZ Inc Agencies
  • Information technology (as the Post’s Technology Cooordinator) and as back-up to the Post Seurity Officer
  • Serving as the Post’s Health and Safety Officer
  • Building strong working relationships internally and externally

The appointment range for this role is US$78,569 - $92,434 total remuneration – negotiable depending on experience.

We’d like to hear from you if you are an experienced administration manager or have a solid financial background of 5-7 years in a corporate office environment, with the following skills and experience:

 

  • Relevant business or formal qualification and/or significant previous successful experience and knowledge of running the administration of an office, including HR guidance, asset management, financial and relationship management.
  • Relevant work experience and a highy organised manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead, contribute to and work within a team and build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Self-motivated worker who can show initiative and sound judgement
  • A can-do attitude is necessary for working in a small team  
  • Values alignment – we value integrity, impact, high-performance, and collegiality
  • Personal integrity and an honest and ethical approach
  • Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.   

 

The successful candidate must have the right to work in the United States. The New Zealand Consulate-General is able to support an application for an A2 visa, which is subject to a five year limit. The preferred candidate would be a New Zealand Citizen or Dual National or a US Permanent Resident and able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government Security clearance.

 

This is a locally employed position, with terms and conditions being set in accordance with US employment regulations. No offshore allowance or transfer/relocation allowance applies.

If the successful candidate has worked or lived in New Zealand and are subsequently employed as locally engaged staff in a NZ Government Embassy or High Commission, they may, subject to individual circumstances, have NZ Tax Residency obligations. We advise any applicant, who may be in this situation, to discuss their tax residency status with the NZ Inland Revenue (IRD) and determine any potential personal tax obligations to IRD.
