  • Downtown Honolulu location, based at the New Zealand Consulate-General in Hawai’i.
  • Customer facing opportunity, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Multifaceted role contributing to Aotearoa New Zealand’s diplomatic presence in the North Pacific.

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role  

 

The New Zealand Consulate in Honolulu is seeking a highly organized and proactive Team Administrator who will be responsible for:

 

  • Facilities Coordination: Oversee chancery, residence, and staff accommodation maintenance, liaise with suppliers, and ensure a safe and functional work environment.
  • Social Media Advisory: Manage and curate content for the Consulate’s social media channels, promoting Aotearoa and Consulate events.
  • Contract Administration: Support procurement processes, maintain contract records, and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
  • Events Coordination: Plan and execute official functions, receptions, and community engagement activities.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of assets and supplies, and coordinate replenishment as needed.

 

Understanding of te ao Māori (Māori worldview) or ka wā kahiko (traditional Hawaiian perspectives) is highly valued. The Consulate recognizes the deep cultural and ancestral ties between Aotearoa and Hawai‘i and seeks candidates who can respectfully engage with and reflect these connections in their work.

 

The appointment range for this role is within Band 12, with the midpoint of the Band being $50,918 USD per annum.

  • Experience in administration, office management, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diplomatic or corporate environment.

 

You must have the lawful right to work in the United States. The New Zealand Consulate may support A2 visa applications for eligible candidates; however, these visas are subject to a maximum duration of five years and are not guaranteed.

 

Candidates are responsible for managing their own tax obligations in both New Zealand and the United States, as applicable. This includes understanding any responsibilities under the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department’s ‘on government service’ rule, as well as complying with relevant U.S. federal and state tax laws.
